| Total number of votes cast by KCMO residents in Platte and Clay counties: 13,821
Total number of votes received by Alvin Brooks from Jackson County alone: 14,105
To put that into perspective, Platte and Clay votes together accounted for one out of four votes cast in yesterday's primary. One out of four.
Judging by these stats, unless the Northland can abnormally improve on the city's overall 17.5 percent turnout today, it's practically a non-factor next month. Then again, it usually is, lazy suburbanites.
